Mid-Ulster Anti-Cuts Protest Saturday, 26 March 2011

Members of Mid Ulster TUC held a rally at the Diamond in Magherafelt before attending respective protest in Belfast and Derry

Trade Union and Community Activists West of the Bann demonstrated how much we oppose the Budget our ‘representatives’ in Stormont propose to bring in after the election to satisfy the insane Tory austerity drive. Public sector jobs and services have been wound down in the area even before the crisis began and are now exacerbating the unemployment situation. The disastrous decision to close Mid Ulster Hospital leaves a 700 square mile vacuum for a decent standard of healthcare provision. Similarly in education closures and cutbacks continue apace while local politicians argue over flags and roadsigns! It’s time to say ‘enough is enough’ encourage your workmates, friends and family to come out in support of the protection and unionisation of workers and workplaces, real job creation and sustained investment in public services.
